Improve I-70 studies began in 2002. Each study has its own process and timeline, but all are expected to be complete in early 2005. The studies will result in all the necessary documentation needed to proceed to the next steps: detailed design and construction.

Currently no funding is allocated for design or construction. Therefore, the timeframe for long-range improvements is unknown.

Section 2 is conducting an Environmental Assessment (EA) study. An EA is conducted when the degree of environmental impact resulting from corridor improvements is yet unkown. An EA will result in either a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), or an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
