"I-70 was built in the 1950's and 60's; it is part of the original interstate program in the United States. As a matter of fact, one of the first state projects on the interstate system was on I-70 in St. Charles County, Missouri. It was designed to have a life of 25 years with much lower volumes of trucks, and it served us well for 40 years, almost 50 years in some locations; which we are very pleased with the life we got out of the pavement and out of the bridges on I-70. But it's time to make a change. I-70 has used up its life, and it's time to rebuild I-70."
